Boffing

What is Boffing ?:

As far as I can tell, Boffing is the art/discipline of mock-swordfighting with padded weapons. It has become the catch-all word for what we do. Without the word it would be called That-wierd-mock-swordfighting-with-padded-weapons-thing-that-we-do thing.

Rules:

The rules to Boffing depend on where you Boff. The rules in this site will be for the S.C.P. only.

1.) No head-shots. If a person is hit in the head that person has the option of calling him/herself and the other person dead, (Wimpy) or saying no contest and continue where the fight left off.

2.) If you are struck in the arm anywhere between the wrist-bone and the top of the shoulder, that arm is considered unusable. If the injured arm is struck again the blow carries through to the body for a kill.

3.) If you are struck in the leg, you are not able to rush your opponent, run or break stride in anything more than a slow walk,(many will drag their hurt leg). You cannot hurt a leg more than once, a second shot will not carry through. A successful hit to the other leg and you must kneel or sit.

4.) A hit to the hip or buttocks will cause you to kneel also.

5.)In the front; if you are struck anywhere between the groin (ouch!) and under the chin, it is considered death. In the back; if you are struck anywhere between the small of the back and the base of the neck, it is considered death.

6.)If you are dead you must fall to the ground and stay there until the gameplay moves out of your surrounding area. When returning to your lands you must signify that you are dead by holding your weapons over your head. The dead may speak to each other quietly but they may not shout warnings to other living clan members. The dead may cheer and clap.

7.) Each person is on their own honor as to whether they have been hit or not, *(see Rhino-hiding). If you feel like another opponant is being too overbearing you may ask them to lighten up or "pull" their shots. You should know what a solid shot is and how to deal one. Some opponants will (*rhino-hide) their shots. You may tell them about it or appeal to your Lord, but at some point you may just have to deal with the lack of honor of some fighters. In time most of these fighters get the message. (They tend to get hit harder and more often.)

8.) No shield-bashing. This means that a shield-barer may not use his/her shield to strike in any way. He/she may not use their shield to shove or push their opponent.

9.) No fighting, hitting or kicking. This will not be tolerated, anyone fighting will be immediately suspended pending an investigation by the council of lords. All parties will be dealt with severely. Violence will not be accepted. If you feel yourself getting mad or feel like your anger is going to escelate, drop your weapons and walk away from the situation. It is up to you to prevent altercations on the field. The best way to prevent a situation is not to let it start. One fight is all that is needed to remove your fighting priveledges and possibly your membership with the group. After a review a final decision will be made by The Council of Lords.

10.) All arguements during battle have a count of five before both parties are called dead.

11.) All weapons must be approved by an established member of at least one season. Any established member of at least 1 season may disqualify or "D.Q." a weapon.

12.)All members must be at least 13 years old or older, all members under 18 must have parental permission.

13.) If you sustain an injury please drop to the ground and call "hold". All members upon hearing a "hold" called must kneel on one knee and repeat the call until all fighting has stopped. It is imperitive that if an injury occurs that the battle is stopped and the matter is attended to immediatly. If you see another person is injured and cannot or has not called a "hold" it is your duty to call "hold" in their behalf.

We have tried to keep the rules to a minimum, to avoid unnecessary disputes. Always remember that this is just a game and fun is our ultimate goal. Problems and disagreements are bound to happen, but each member of the S.C.P. needs to take responsability for their own actions.
